A Tribute Built By A Grateful Community
On September 26, 2017, the Gulf County, Florida Board of County Commissioners appointed a committee of patriotic citizens and local veterans to direct an effort to build The Honor Walk at the Gulf County Veterans Memorial Park. The park sits on U.S. Hwy. 98 between Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach, on Florida's Northwest Gulf Coast.
Although Hurricane Michael delayed the process, construction was completed and The Honor Walk was officially dedicated on Veterans Day, November 11, 2020.
A portion of the funds needed to accomplish this goal came from friends and family members who chose to use this beautiful park to honor or memorialize a special veteran in their life. Two walkways extend twenty feet from the center of the monument in opposite directions, bordered by rows of engraved bricks purchased in honor or in memory of veterans.
